Assignment 2 - " Design Principles "
It’s a group assignment and teamwork is aroused during this assignment. Eight design principles are learnt too. Students are trained to build a mode according to client. Teamwork is also one of major things to be enhanced after having this assignment. A combination of own ideas with design principle is necessary!
Task
It’s a group assignment, four person a group. Eight designs principles is assigned for every group and distinguished into two principles per person. It’s a continuation from first assignment a shape is needed to define from one of ur space from the first assignment. Assigned design principle needed to be indicated in the shape then create two model. A combination of eight design principle models will be formed after finishing them with team spirit. Three models needed to be done, first two models is smaller size and it’s built according to the design principle. The last one is the combination of both.
Progress
Week 1
I formed a group with joey, syuennee and Nikhil. We had a short meeting to distinguished design principles to each of us. Design principles that I took is unity and variety. I had a quick start as well and start to sketch them out on butter paper. I used the same method as the first assignment. The difference is only the first step which is using mirror and cut for the shape that I used - triangle. Then, 2D exploration then transform to 3D is done by me .
Week 2
I started to build the mock-up model following the sketch that I drew. Luckily, my design is fine and just need to do some minor changes which are given from Mr Paul. Then, I did the second sketches and build the second mock-up model.

Week 3
The second mock-up model is absolutely perfect. Hence, I proceed with final model. I built the final model by using with pvc foam board only. Then, for the final combination, my idea is combining both models to one by connecting them with satay sticks. Luckily, it worked well too.

Week 4
My group members and I had meeting again for the final presentation board. After meeting, tasks and pages of presentation is distinguished to each of us. My task is my own principles models and the final sketches of the combination of four final models from every members. After finishing everything, we did some final checking and touch up them we submitted on time!
Final Outcome
Reflection
I was elated as well because my progress was quite smooth, just minor changes needed to be changed. My creativity was enhanced too by emphasizing my preferences. We’re a great team as well, no arguments between each other’s . It’s the first time to build so complicated model, it’s challenging but I love it so much!
