Assignment 2 -
" My Space "
Throughout this assignment, the actual size of room is converted to a technical drawing. Scale of the drawing is depends on the size of the room and this can be learnt during this assignment. Achitectural symbols, line weight, materials and correct dimension or thickness of elements such as brick wall, floor, and beam can be learnt and explored as well. Architectural words can be trained too so that overall looks of the assignment is neat and tidy. The proper use of instrument for measuring scale or room can be managed well under the guidance and assistance of Mr Akmal.
Task
For this assignment, I needed to select one of my personal space and convert exactly without any changes to a smaller scale by using scale ruler. Before drawing, I needed to choose the right and perfect scale to draw. So, the drawings for our personal space is floor plan, internal elevations, section and detailed drawings. All of the furnitures must be included. Before submission, I must capture the pictures of my personal space and title block is a must too according to the tittle block from the brief.
Progress
Week 1 & 2
I was still thinking about whether I wanted to select my bedroom or study room. My study room has more furnitures and looked more challenging so I selected it! I wanted challenge myself rather than learning less. After that, I started to measure my study room and sketched it out on a plain paper. All the measurement is written on that paper as well before doing my actual drawing.
Week 3
To be honest, I really had a slow start due to my bad habit. I will fully completed an assignment then proceed to the next assignment. So, it causes a very slow progress. For this week, I just drew a plan view of my study room.
Week 4 & 5
After finishing other assignments, I had much time for this assignment. I fully concentrated on this assignment. I drew in carbon first for all types of drawing. I referred lecture for more architectural techniques which are shown in the lecture and tutorials. Then, I used ink for the drawing. And the problems just happened. The ink kept smearing on the paper because of controlling the ink not that well. Hence, I kept redrawing and finally I made it before an hour from the submission time.
Conclusion
This assignment is the most panic assignment throughout the foundation. I learnt more about the construction symbols which is the symbols of furnitures and the drawings of materials and thickness of wall, floor and beam. The better line weight also was learnt during this assignment.
